The 2025 CX-50: A Deep Dive Into Pricing and Packaging Options

Pricing and packaging for the 2025 CX-50 were recently revealed. In big news, Mazda has introduced the CX-50 hybrid variant, which offers an EPA-estimated 38 mpg combined. It also provides more than 100 additional miles of driving range compared to the CX-50 2.5 S models, using the same calculation methodology as fueleconomy.gov. But if the hybrid isn’t your thing, you can still find the right CX-50! Let’s look at the pricing and packaging options for the 2025 CX-50.

All CX-50 2.5 S Trims

All CX-50 2.5 S models have a Skyactiv-G 2.5L naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine that generates 187 horsepower and 185 lb-ft of torque while running on regular 87-octane fuel. Fuel efficiency has improved for 2025, with an EPA estimated range of  25 mpg city, 31 mpg freeway, and 28 mpg combined.

This engine is coupled with a Skyactiv-Drive six-speed automatic transmission. The CX-50 2.5 S is equipped with i-Activ All-Wheel Drive and Mazda Intelligent Drive Select (Mi-Drive) as standard, featuring Sport and Off-Road modes and an optional Towing mode available on select packages. This feature allows you to select various drive modes, enabling the crossover SUV to perform effortlessly and confidently across diverse driving conditions. It can also tow up to 2,000 pounds when equipped with genuine Mazda towing accessories.

CX-50 2.5 S Select

The base trim of the S variants starts at an MSRP of $30,300. These cars now feature Alexa Built-in, enabling drivers to issue hands-free voice commands for tasks such as adjusting the temperature, changing radio stations, or controlling smart home devices while in the vehicle. It provides a comprehensive range of standard safety, convenience, and technological features, such as 10.25-inch full-color center display with HD RadioTM and four USB-C ports, 8-speaker audio system, wireless Apple CarPlayTM and Android AutoTM integration, with touch functionality, Mazda ConnectTM Infotainment system, Mazda Advanced Keyless Entry with push-button start, a 7-inch TFT LCD instrument panel display dual-zone automatic climate control with rear passenger vents, a leather-wrapped shifter and steering wheel, leatherette seating, LED interior lighting, among many other standard features.

Standard exterior features include distinctive 17-inch Black Metallic alloy wheels, tinted privacy glass, LED headlights, rear roof spoiler, roof rails, black power side-view mirrors with LED turn signal indicators, dual exhaust outlets, High Beam Control, and rain-sensing wipers.

As safety is always a priority, Mazda has elevated the standard driver assistance and vehicle safety technologies for 2025. New features include a rear seat alert, vehicle exit warning, and an enhanced version of Smart Brake Support, which now features nighttime pedestrian detection and head-on collision mitigation provisions.

All CX-50 packages have comprehensive standard active and passive safety features. These include Smart Brake Support with pedestrian detection, Blind Spot Monitoring, Driver Attention Alert, Lane Departure Warning System, Lane Keep Assist, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert, ensuring enhanced safety for all occupants.

CX-50 2.5 S Preferred

Convenience reaches new heights in the 2.5 S Preferred trim, which starts at $31,650 MSRP. Features include heated side-view mirrors and windshield wipers, a power rear liftgate with programmable height adjustment, an eight-way power adjustable driver’s seat with power lumbar support, and heated front seats. The 2025 model year also includes wireless phone charging.

CX-50 2.5 S Premium

The 2.5 S Premium trim has additional technology features and starts at $34,000. These high-tech features include Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) with stop-and-go ability, Speed Limit Assist, and Traffic Sign Recognition.

The interior boasts a power-sliding panoramic moonroof with the one-touch open and close feature, a Bose® 12-speaker premium audio system with Centerpoint® and AudioPilot®, and SiriusXM satellite radio with a three-month trial subscription.

CX-50 2.5 S Premium Plus

The 2.5 S Premium Plus has striking visual features, including 20-inch aluminum-alloy wheels with machine-cut black metallic accents and automatic power-folding side-view mirrors. The cabin features ventilated front seats, a six-way power-adjustable front passenger seat, black leather seating accented with premium camel stitching trim inserts, two-position driver seat memory, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink®, and a full-color Active Driving Display projected onto the windshield. The S Premium Plus starts at $37,500.

All CX-50 Hybrid Models

We’re moving into the hybrid distinction of the 2025 CX-50. These models stand out from their counterparts through subtle design elements. These include distinctive wheel designs, a reimagined lower front bumper, and the introduction of an elegant new red leather interior option.

The CX-50 Hybrid platform is built around the Toyota Hybrid System (THS), which includes a 2.5L naturally-aspirated four-cylinder engine, a hybrid EV battery, three electric motors, an electronically-controlled continuously variable transmission (eCVT), and standard Electric AWD (eAWD). This configuration delivers an impressive 219 horsepower and 163 lb-ft of torque when using regular 87-octane fuel. This Mazda hybrid boasts an EPA-estimated 38 MPG combined, representing a roughly 40% improvement over the CX-50 2.5 S. This enhancement translates to approximately $575 in annual fuel savings for customers compared to the CX-50 2.5 S.

Mazda engineers have meticulously fine-tuned every aspect of the hybrid powertrain, including the accelerator pedal response, to deliver the connected and responsive driving dynamics for which the CX-50 is celebrated. Moreover, including specialized drive modes, such as Power and Trail, empowers drivers to customize their driving experience to suit various conditions. Impressively, all Hybrid packages boast a towing capacity of 1,500 pounds when equipped with genuine Mazda towing accessories.

The CX-50 Hybrid delivers a refined and smooth driving experience within the compact crossover hybrid segment thanks to its exceptional chassis rigidity, precise steering and handling, and a strong focus on minimizing noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH).

This trim includes a wide range of equipment, including a special 17-inch Hybrid wheel with a black finish, a 10.25-inch infotainment display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, an 8-speaker audio system, four USB-C ports, wireless phone charging, Alexa Built-in integration, power rear liftgate, and heated front seats, among numerous other offerings.

CX-50 Hybrid Premium

The Hybrid Premium, which starts at $37,400 MSRP, boasts distinctive black roof rails and black exhaust pipes, along with several features offered on other CX-50 models.

The most significant enhancements occur within, as the CX-50 Hybrid Premium presents luxuries rarely found in the hybrid crossover segment. One of these luxuries is available leather seating in black or red, exclusive to Hybrid models. You’ll also find features from other CX-50 Premium models, including a one-touch power sliding panoramic moonroof, a 12-speaker Bose audio system equipped with Centerpoint® and AudioPilot®, SiriusXM satellite radio with a complimentary three-month trial, Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop and Go functionality, Speed Limit Assist, and Traffic Sign Recognition for a more convenient driving experience.

CX-50 Hybrid Premium Plus

At the top of the hybrid line, we have the CX-50 Hybrid Premium Plus, which starts at $40,050. This vehicle boasts distinctive 19-inch Hybrid wheels featuring a striking split black and machine-polished finish, complemented by an aerodynamic turbine-inspired design. It comes equipped with bright roof rails and exhaust pipes, automatic power-folding side mirrors, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink, a 6-way power passenger seat and 2-position memory setting for the powered driver seat, black metal painted interior trim inserts with optional camel stitching on the black interior, ventilated front seats, and a full-color Active Driving Display projected onto the windshield.

All CX-50 2.5 Turbo Models

Our final category is the Turbo Models. Every Turbo model has Mazda’s Skyactiv-G 2.5L turbocharged four-cylinder engine as standard, which offers 256 hp and 320 lb-ft of torque on premium 93 octane fuel, 227 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque on regular 87 octane fuel. This engine is paired with a responsive Skyactiv-Drive six-speed automatic transmission, featuring a manual shift mode accessible via paddle shifters mounted on the steering wheel, resulting in a more captivating driving experience.

The CX-50 Turbo packages come standard with the i-Activ AWD system featuring Mi-Drive, which includes Sport and Off-road modes; however, Towing mode is exclusive to the Turbo variant. When equipped with genuine Mazda towing accessories, the 2.5 Turbo models’ towing capacity is rated at an impressive 3,500 pounds.

The CX-50 2.5 Turbo models stand out with their distinctive Turbo badging, larger exhaust pipes, striking LED tail lights, and an Adaptive LED front lighting system featuring auto-leveling headlights.

CX-50 2.5 Turbo Meridian Edition

First in the Turbo category and starting at $40,800 is the Turbo Meridian Edition. It features exceptional all-terrain performance and styling, exclusive 18-inch alloy wheels with all-terrain tires, side rocker garnish, distinctive hood graphics, and a variety of outdoor-specific accessories, empowering customers to confidently and conveniently explore the great outdoors with the CX-50.

The interior will impress drivers with powered side mirrors, memory adjust, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and a heated steering wheel. It also includes Mazda Online Navigation, which provides enhanced route guidance, including select off-road trail mapping and the capability for over-the-air (OTA) updates.

CX-50 2.5 Turbo Premium

The next level up is the Turbo Premium. This trim starts at $41,300 and features a head-up Active Driving Display, projected on the windshield and paired with Traffic Sign Recognition and Cruising & Traffic Support (CTS) technology. CTS is Mazda’s most advanced active driving assistance, providing highway speed lane centering and adaptive cruise control for confident, hands-on driving. The car features a 20-inch wheel and tire package, finished in black metallic with a machine-cut design.

CX-50 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus

Finally, rounding out the 2025 CX-50 lineup, we have the Turbo Premium Plus, which starts at $43,300. In addition to the features in the Turbo Premium, the Turbo Premium Plus offers a frameless, auto-dimming driver-side and rearview mirror with HomeLink®, a 360° view monitor with a new See-Through View function, front and rear parking sensors and Emergency Lane Keeping – Blind Spot Assist technology, a new Front Cross Traffic Alert, and rear Smart Brake Support. There are also upgrades to Smart Brake Support, which now features Turn-Across Traffic and Front Crossing detection.
