Mazda is rethinking the combustion engine to affect global fuel consumption and emissions right now! They are making the combustion engine better and more accessible to everyone. With current combustion engines we lose up to 70% of the fuels potential energy, but Mazda technology is helping to improve that number by 15%.

Mazda is doing this by adding a dome topped piston, a high pressure 6 hole fuel injector, and spraying gas in at 3000 psi. By adding a longer exhaust manifold, called a header, it keeps the other cylinders cool. To make sure their engines do not lose any of that precious energy going to the wheels, Mazda has reduced the friction in the engine by a whopping 30%. They do this by sweating the details and improving efficiency of oil and water pumps and reducing the friction of the pistons rods, crank shafts, and valve train. By doing all of this Mazda has improved their engines torque, performance, and fuel efficiency. The future of driving is Mazda's SKYACTIV Technology.
