Sales of 2014 Mazda6 Diesel Postponed Until April

What makes the new Mazda lineup so impressive? Along with offering exceptional style and convenience, these vehicles are perfected before reaching the production line. For example, Mazda has postponed the release of the Mazda6 diesel powered sedan, to ensure the final product is flawless. And while the folks at McDonald Mazda were anxiously awaiting the release of this new sedan, we will have to wait until April, 2014.

Why was the release date pushed back? Reports suggest it was due to "final emissions testing and certification." After all, the Mazda6 Diesel does feature a brand new engine from Mazda, the SKYACTIV®-D 2.2-liter turbodiesel.  The team at McDonald Mazda are confident that this will not have a significant impact on vehicle sales in the long run.

Robert Davis, senior vice president of U.S. operations for Mazda North American Operations, explains the situation, stating, "I know we had discussed it being in showrooms before the end of the year, and everyone involved in the program is disappointed it will not be, but final certification testing -- the results of which are looking encouraging -- is taking longer than we had initially expected."1

In order to ensure there are no shortages of the Mazda6 at dealerships across the country, Mazda will be delivering about 4,000 extra gasoline-powered models to dealerships like McDonald Mazda in Q1 of 2014.
