Mazda Diesel Development: a Look Behind the Scenes

Mazda is historically known for its rotary engine, found in many iconic models such as the RX-7 and RX-8. They are, however, working hard to perfect the diesel engine. The folks at McDonald Mazda are going to take you on a look behind the scenes at exactly what the automaker is up to in regards to this new engine.

It's worth noting that Mazda is taking its time with this new Diesel engine. "We are going to continue ahead and make sure we get it right in development. The best place to do that is on the race track. We learn from our mistakes and sometimes have to eat humble pie," states SpeedSource team owner Sylvain Tremblay.

Without question the folks at McDonald Mazda are excited to see the new diesel engine on the race track! The last time that Mazda seriously raced, it was done with their LeMans-winning rotary engine. Once the diesel engine is perfected on the race track it will make its way to the production line. As Tremblay mentioned, testing these engines on the race track is a great way to create a more reliable, efficient and powerful engine before introducing them to the general public.
